9 Problems A Jason Bourne Sequel Must Avoid

2. The Title Could Have Meant Something

The title for what is now the fifth instalment of the franchise overall was very intriguing when first announced. Gone was the theme of 'The Bourne Something-or-other' and instead we were given his full name front and centre. What could it mean, we asked as we pondered and stroked our beards/chins..? As it turns out, we needn't have bothered because it meant sweet F A.

Let's make a slight adjustment: an odd occurrence throughout the film is that Bourne and other characters still continue to refer to him as 'Jason Bourne' despite the fact he uncovered that his real name is 'David Webb'. Why would he not request that everyone call him by his real name? Ya know, instead of the name he was given by the government agency that manipulated him into being a heartless killer.

The title of the film itself could have been symbolic of him letting go of the name 'Jason Bourne' and everything that goes with it. An end to the guilt that he has been carrying with him throughout the series.

Or they could just make it mean nothing, safe in the knowledge that people would flock to a film called Jason Bourne. Which is what they did.
