9 Reasons Why Justice League Is Now Officially The Lowest-Grossing DCEU Film
2. Ruining A Perfectly Good Wonder Woman
Six months prior to Justice League, Patty Jenkins' Wonder Woman was released and for the very first time, a DCEU film got a positively glowing reception. Critics loved it, fans loved it, and it was a huge hit at the box office. Gadot became a new feminist icon and helped to spread a message of power and love to an entirely new generation of Wonder Woman fans.
And then Justice League came out and ruined pretty much all of that.
Turns out Patty Jenkins did not get anywhere near enough credit for inspiring and editing around Gadot's performance in her film because Gadot's acting in Justice League comes off as stilted and unconvincing for the vast majority of its runtime.
If that wasn't bad enough, the camera in JL seems to linger on certain parts of Gadot's body a great deal longer than it should. Her character that was so strong and independent previously is reduced to someone who's still so broken up about the death of her boyfriend during WWI that she can't possibly be a hero now. She's also essentially reduced to being a mother figure to all the boys on the team,
Audiences who had loved her so much in her prior film were suddenly being shown a representation of that character who they did not like at all.
