9 Reasons Why Justice League Is Now Officially The Lowest-Grossing DCEU Film

1. A Leftover Bad Taste

Flat-out, the DCEU had had this failure coming for a long time.

Audiences were decidedly split on their opinion of Man of Steel, things got even more heated when Batman v. Superman was released, and Suicide Squad somehow made things even worse. The exception is, obviously, Wonder Woman but that film was separate from the other films in a clear and distinct way.

As much as DC wanted Justice League to piggyback off the success of Wonder Woman, it was a sequel to BvS first and foremost and that film had left a bad taste in a lot of people's mouths. While films such as Man of Steel, BvS, and Suicide Squad had been divisive, they had remained successful at the box office.

Audiences will only forgive so much though, and just as the Transformers franchise's time finally ran out this past year, so did the DCEU's.
