9 Ridiculous Upcoming Cinematic Universes

5. The Lego Cinematic Universe

The LEGO Movie should have just been a colourful but cynical attempt to lure in families and convince them to buy more toys; thanks to Phil Lord and Chris Miller it turned out to be one of the freshest comedies in years, for young and old audiences alike.

Lego is looking to build on that success (sorry), by not only producing a direct sequel but also giving the breakout character – Will Arnett’s Lego Batman – his very own movie. The trailer for that gets plenty of mileage out of this charmingly douchey version of The Dark Knight, who still comes off as less of a jerk than Ben Affleck’s take.

Elsewhere there’ll be a Ninjago movie - which sounds stupid until you remember people said the same thing about The LEGO Movie – and finally Billion Brick Race, which Jason Segel will write and co-direct.

Handsome. Charismatic. Intelligent. Noble. Witty. I'm none of these things, but I'm a half decent writer, I guess.
