9 Rumours You Need To Know About Star Wars Episode 8

2. One Of The Original Trilogy Cast Won't Be Back

This one is something of a heavy rumour for The Force Awakens, but the result of it will very much tie into Episode VIII, and it's a pretty huge, game-changing one as well. While the three leads of the Original Trilogy are back, it's speculated that one of them won't be making it to the next instalment. Who, you ask? Han: the rumours have been going around for a while, with various sources saying this or claiming that, and it's impossible to know until the film's released how much truth there is in them, but it has been suggested on a few occasions now that everyone's favourite scruffy-looking nerf-herder will be the major casualty of The Force Awakens. There is some logic there, as these films will be passing the torch to the new generation, and that would be reinforced if Han's offspring does appear and he passes away. Furthermore, Harrison Ford was the most reluctant of the three to reprise his role, having previously asked George Lucas to kill Han off. While it's expected that Hamill will actually have a bigger role in Episode VIII, and not much has been said of Leia, it is unfortunately possible that Han will die in The Force Awakens. And that would ensure a very tearful Christmas.
