9 Sci-Fi Movie Sequels That Insulted Great Characters

4. Rogue - X-Men: Days Of Future Past

It was extremely questionable in itself to have Rogue take the mutant cure at the end of X-Men: The Last Stand, but the character was done an even greater disservice in X-Men: Days of Future Past.

At least in The Last Stand we saw Rogue as an important character, with her decision on whether or not to take the mutant cure one of the main parts of the picture. In Days of Future Past, however, Anna Paquin's character was completely cut from the movie.

Ahead of Days of Future Past's release, we'd all known Rogue was returning for the fifth outing of the main X-Men team pictures, and Paquin's character was even featured in the trailers for the film. But then, by the time of the movie's release, all scenes involving Rogue were left on the cutting room floor.

Originally, Rogue was intended to be a key part of Kitty Pryde being able to send Wolverine back in time. After Logan lashed out and injured Kitty, Rogue was brought in to absorb Pryde's pain so that she could continue to maintain Wolvie's presence in the '70s.

So shafted did fans feel at this disservice to Rogue, 20th Century Fox and director Bryan Singer ended up having to release what was known as The Rogue Cut - a version of DoFP including those previously removed scenes.
