9 Suffering Film Franchises That Need The Old Yeller Treatment

1. Star Wars

darth vader star wars George Lucas sent the collective heads of fanboys and movie geeks everywhere spinning when he announced that he sold off his beloved Star Wars franchise to Disney. After a decade of subpar films beginning with Episode 1: The Phantom Menace, Star Wars fanboys yearned for Lucas to hand over the franchise reigns to someone, anyone who could produce a competent Star Wars film. But in a case of be careful what you wish for, Disney has recently announced plans to churn out Star Wars films at a rate that would put an Apple sweatshop to shame. Not only will we be treated to Episode 7: The Search for More Money, Episode 8: Mission to Moscow, and Episode 9: The Quickening, Disney has promised (threatened?) to put out a new Star Wars film every year. Prepare yourself for Yoda's Christmas Vacation, My Dinner With Chewbacca and Han Solo: Han Harder. Even the most rabid Star Wars fan will be begging for it all to stop. Before the last shred of dignity the franchise has evaporates in an explosion of tasteless, pointless money grabs, Disney should give the fans what they truly deserve: the theatrical cuts of the original trilogy on Blu-ray and then call it quits. So what do you think? What other franchises need the plug pulled? Let me know in the comments below.
