Another movie based on the dangers of social media comes Friend Request, a 2016 German art house English language horror following the narrative of a loner high school girl who commits suicide, hacking her only Facebook friend Laura as revenge after she deleted her. This in turn causes some horrifying consequences, after Laura's friends begin to be killed off one by one, and the spirit of the dead girl comes after her.
Just like Unfriended, the film teaches audiences of the sinister impacts of the internet. There are a number of tense scenes throughout, leaving viewers feeling on edge much like the protagonist, knowing that she is last on the list to be killed.
Although only receiving 16 percent on Rotten Tomatoes, the overall scariness of the movie itself is quite high. You are guaranteed to jump, enduring a number of creepy girl shots and CGI effects that are surprisingly well done.
