9 Times Authors Disavowed Adaptations Of Their Work
4. Stan Lee - Fantastic Four
Stan Lee's cameo is a staple of any Marvel movie, even the ones you'd rather forget about. His presence is the neat little Easter egg that you don't have to be a comics aficionado to pick up on and can be played for some of the biggest laughs in the entire film. You might even believe that Stan Lee has appeared in every Marvel film, but he has taken notable exceptions.
It's really telling that he declined to appear in the 2015 reboot of The Fantastic Four. Maybe it was something political because Fox doesn't want to let Marvel's first family out of their grubby hands, but honestly, it's just as believable that he didn't want to appear in it because of how bad it would be.
He was in fine health at the time and he had no scheduling conflicts (he even used this time to cameo in Deadpool, something we're all grateful for), so it really feels like he had no reason to refuse. Except for good taste, of course.
