9 Upcoming Movies That Already Have Sequels In Development
7. Fast 8
Release Date: April 14, 2017
The Sequel(s) Already In Development: Fast 9, Fast 10
When Vin Diesel isn't talking about how Furious 7 deserved an Academy Award nomination for Best Picture, he's letting fans of the explosive franchise know that there will be enough movies in this series to take over a significant part of your life over the course of the next five years.
"I promised the studio I would deliver one last trilogy to end the saga," said Diesel on the serious matter of more movies. Because aside from Fast 8, the studio behind this car crash of a franchise (get it?) have already set the dates for Fast 9 and Fast 10 (2019 and 2021, respectively). You know, so you know not to book a romantic getaway or have your wedding on those weekends because there are more important things at stake, like what car Dominic Toretto is driving.
Worried about the volume of films here? Don't be: Charlize Theron just signed on to star in Fast 8, news that would have been considered insane before this franchise got it mojo back, but convinces me that it is inarguably awesome.
Whether Diesel chooses to say goodbye after Fast 10 or not, you can bet that the studio won't ever want to bid farewell to this petroleum-lined cash cow. I can imagine going to see Fast 26 with my grandkids, with the franchise now established as a kind of Bond for the sequel generation. And I'm cool with that.
