The Sequel(s) Already In Development: Transformers 6, Transformers 7, A Bumblebee Spin-Off Movie

Who actually likes the Transformers movies? I'm not being glib; I'm genuinely putting this question out there, because I don't know anybody in my own life who genuinely does. Not one. Not even the guy with an absolutely hellish taste in films - one who will go and see anything and enjoy it - has mentioned this franchise in a positive light, and he was a fan of the recent Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles reboot. Yeah.

Have we simply reached a point at which the human race feels compelled to see a Transformers movie on the basis that it just exists? It certainly feels like that, and Paramount are clearly having a field day with this strange filmic phenomenon, given that they've planned out enough Transformers movies to keep you busy for, oh, the rest of your life.

Aside from Transformers 5, which will see Mark Wahlberg back for another spin under Michael Bay's cruel tutelage in 2017, Transformers 6 and Transformers 7 have been slated for release in 2018 and 2019. In addition, there's a Bumblebee spin-off film in the works, also set to hit theatres in 2018. That's two movies in one year.
