9 Wholly Inappropriate 80’s Movies That Taught Me All My Life Values

2. Trading Places

NYE - Trading Places The classic, genre defining comedy directed by John Landis starred Dan Aykroyd and Eddie Murphy before they lost their abilities to be funny. I believe the Wikipedia synopsis explains it accurately without going into too much detail. It tells the story of an upper class commodities broker and a homeless street hustler whose lives cross paths when they are unknowingly made part of an elaborate bet." Not only did it go on to critical acclaim with Jamie Lee Curtis and Denholm Elliot both winning best supporting actress and actor respectively at the Baftas that year, but is considered one of the funniest movies of all time. Every aspect of this movie is just fantastic from everyone involved, including the veteran stars Ralph Bellamy and Don Ameche as the two evil billionaires who like to play with peoples lives for the sake of $1.
Lesson Learnt: POOR PEOPLE ARE HUMAN TOO It is truly amazing that those who created the conditions that caused the global financial crisis (like George W and his cronies) are not currently on trial for crimes against humanity or even treason. For the amount of people around the entire world (not just the United States) that this left below the poverty line is staggering and has not been seen since the great depression. And there are those out there that either profit or exploit these people to their own gain, which to me is the epitome of all that is wrong with humanity. But thanks to this movie and others like it I was taught that no matter where people are situated on the financial ladder, they should all be treated equally and with compassion. Although it seems that a lot of you don't have either the inclination or the desire to treat your fellow man as a human being, which is sad considering we have lived through all of this before and have seemingly not learned from our mistakes. There should be no such thing on this planet as a "billionaire", it doesn't matter how much you may have helped humanity progress (Bill Gates and the like), if you have a billion dollars worth of cash, you don't need anymore. Hell, you don't even need that much. Share the wealth and stop holding back the human race from moving along the next step in the evolutionary plane. Alternate lesson: BE NICE TO EVERYONE AS YOU MAY NEVER KNOW THE CONSEQUENCES. There are countless examples throughout history where a good deed done by someone returns to them tenfold. Numerous movies and tv shows have been dedicated to the subject. Stories of large rewards and amazing repercussions in being a nice person to a stranger who may be of assistance literally litter the internet for those who know that Google can be a friend. So, next time you see someone out in the rain who is changing a flat tyre, help them out. Not only will it deliver a great deal of self satisfaction but you could unwittingly be helping the next Bill Gates who will reward you with shares in an up and coming software company. Or they could just look like Jamie Lee Curtis.

Passions in life: Movies, Music and Wrestling....My childhood was spent growing up in the "Outback" of Australia (I'm a little bit country) and my adulthood resided within the city limits (I'm a little bit rock and roll), so you could say that I am the best (or worst) of both worlds. A 6 foot 7 ex wannabe pro wrestler (whose career was cut short due to a busted back, NOT caused by wrestling) & muso who has a precocious cat & a habit of doing the wrong thing but for the right reasons. The story of my life???? All demos, no albums ;)
