9 Worst Motion Captured Performances

7. Jet Li - The Mummy: Tomb Of The Dragon Emperor

Hulk Rocket
Universal

Jet Li seems to have a healthy relationship with Hollywood; do a crappy movie there every couple of years, grab a nice cheque and then go back to China and make films he cares about. When Universal needed an Asian superstar to play the new Mummy they had a shortlist to draw from, and Li was on the top of it.

Li is quite good at playing villains when he’s engaged in the material, but when he’s not he looks painfully bored. That seems up his appearance in The Mummy 3, where the effects overwhelm everything and he’s just kind of there. For most of his screen-time he’s motion captured into the form of a terracotta warrior, which looks quite silly.

In a vain attempt to make him scary he breathes fire and occasionally turns into a dragon, but no amount of flashy graphics will makes up for Li just not giving a f*ck. If he’s trying to play it without emotion he’s did too good a job, because he radiates disinterest here.

Handsome. Charismatic. Intelligent. Noble. Witty. I'm none of these things, but I'm a half decent writer, I guess.
