A Bad Moms Christmas Review: 3 Ups & 6 Downs

5. Too. Many. Montages.

The musical montage has become an increasingly tiresome cliche in comedies over the last few years, a lazy device typically intended to show the central characters goofing off and having fun, often by way of alcohol-fuelled shenanigans.

Well, A Bad Moms Christmas isn't content to force viewers to sit through just one, two or even three montages: there are about half-a-dozen of them in this movie, even one featuring an impromptu dodgeball match, and they quickly become more eye-rolling than entertaining.

There's only so much slow-mo a person can take before they want the plot to just move on, and here the use of music feels like a rather slack attempt to inject some added excitement into scenes that otherwise aren't really up to much.

Stay at home dad who spends as much time teaching his kids the merits of Martin Scorsese as possible (against the missus' wishes). General video game, TV and film nut. Occasional sports fan. Full time loon.
