A Good Day To Die Hard: 10 Things You Didn't Know About Die Hard

5. The Original Die Hard Posters Didn't Feature Bruce Willis

DieHard1Bruce Willis only appeared in six films prior to landing his big break when he was cast as John McClane in Die Hard, and three of those were anonymous, uncredited roles. Willis was at the time regarded as a TV actor, and coupled with the fact that he had yet to rise to prominence in the film industry, his likeness was not featured on the original Die Hard posters, just the fictitious Nakatomi Plaza building which was the main setting for the film. Producers thought that Willis' image might prevent box office success and deter viewers from seeing the film, which is particularly humorous when you consider the film took $140,767,956 at the box office upon release. Pre-release promo posters however did show Willis, and the posters were later altered following the film's success.
