2. Lana Del Rey
The James Bond film series debuted in 1962 with Dr. No, and the use of Lizzy Grant, aka Lana Del Rey, for a Bond song would an excellent throwback to the origins of the series, given the singers sixties-inspired look and output. Comparing herself to Nancy Sinatra, who sang the theme song to 1967s You Only Live Twice, Del Reys music has been described as sadcore', incorporating alternative rock with downbeat lyrics and melodies, which may be more fitting, on paper, for a film noir than an action series, though it could be the ideal accompaniment given the gritty direction that recent entries in the Bond series have been taking. With songs like National Anthem, Del Rey is able of conveying patriotism (albeit American rather than British), a strong element of the Bond series, whilst another of her songs Born To Die, has been compared to a composition by John Barry, who composed the score for twelve Bond films, suggesting that she could be a fitting choice for a future theme song of the series.
