After Skyfall: 7 Actresses Who Should Be The Next Bond Girl

1. Rose Byrne

One of the finest actresses of the current generation, the Australian Byrne has seamlessly shifted from the most serious and dark of dramas (such as in Damages) to the hilarious (as in her quiet scene-stealing performance as Helen in Bridesmaids) with time for horror (Insidious) and sci-fi (Sunshine) inbetween, so we think it's pretty clear that her abilities to showcase a wide range of acting skills makes her the ideal candidate for the next Bond heroine. Aside from her adept use of accents (British, American and South African), Byrne's characters always have an utter self-possession, a self-agency that makes them standout from the swathe of barely-written female characters out there, evoking Katherine Hepburn's independence at its finest. It's this self-possession that would make a strong, capable Bond girl and easily joining the ranks of heroines such as Giacinta 'Jinx' Johnson and Wai Lin. Add to the fact that she was a top contender to play Vesper Lynd in Bond reboot Casino Royale (losing out to Eva Green), already indicates that interest in the young actress to play an iconic heroine isn't just on our end alone. Byrne has already staked her claims to roles both darkly dramatic and wryly comedic, so it'd be a genuine delight and pleasure to see her alongside James Bond as an ass-kicking, identifiable and enjoyable Bond girl. I like to think so anyway. I hope you like and agree with my choices for Bond Girls - if you have any suggestions about who you'd like to see on the silver screen as a potential Bondian heroine, let us know in the comments below!
