6. What About The Xenomorph Queen?

Covenant's most pivotal revelation is that David appears to have been the creator of the xenomorphs, or at least one iteration of them, evidenced by him independently creating the facehugger egg through some sort of experimentation.

What's weird about this, of course, is that it completely calls into question the necessity of the xenomorph Queen depicted in earlier movies. While it's entirely possible a future film could show David experimenting to create a Queen who can help speed up the breeding process, what's shown on-screen in Covenant completely marginalises the Queen.

Of course, Scott's refusal to explicitly explain the process that created the egg gives him something of a get-out clause, but it's still rather awkward and contrived.
