5. Das Rheingold

The film is book-ended by a famous piece of classical music - Wagner's Das Rheingold - which Weyland asks David to play in the prologue scene, and which the android plays almost in triumph at the end of the film once he has commandeered the Covenant.

The song isn't accidentally chosen either - and it's ironic that Weyland chooses it - as it is essentially about a dwarf who steals the source of ultimate power (a ring) and uses it to almost cause the downfall of the gods. Which might as well be a simplistic version of David's current arc in the franchise.

He put aside his love, as the dwarf did, to concentrate on forging genetic perfection and ultimately kills the "gods" who created his beloved pathogen (the Engineers).
