Alien: Covenant Review - 6 Ups & 4 Downs

1. Too Many Anonymous Characters

One of the oddest things about this movie is the ridiculous number of characters who seemingly show up out nowhere, pretty much for the sole reason to present themselves as fodder for one of the several alien creatures scattered around the Engineer homeworld.

Though the central crew of the Covenant are relatively well-developed, there are a shockingly high number of characters whose names you won't remember, who emerge out of the blue and are killed off within minutes of showing up.

It basically makes the film feel like a slasher flick at times, especially as these characters typically head off on their own to do something foolish before quickly being killed.

Yes, they give the film some added splashes of blood, but it might've felt a little tighter overall by focusing on a smaller crew where the individual deaths actually meant a little more.

As Alien fans, we're all going to be harsh on Covenant no matter what, but you know what? It's by no means a bad movie overall, and here's everything that Ridley Scott got right...
