8. David Hides In The Shadows

Here's one thing that's incredibly easily missed in the trailer even though you'll be kicking yourself in retrospect.

When Billy Crudup's character sees the alien egg begin to open up, keen-eyed viewers might've noticed Michael Fassbender in the right-hand area of the frame.

The image is incredibly dark in the official trailer, but by upping the contrast you can see things much more clearly. This was probably an intentional attempt to cloak David, especially as the shot is designed to keep the viewer focused on Crudup and the hatching alien egg.

It seems likely that Fassbender is in fact playing David here, considering that Walter seems to spend a big chunk of the movie wearing his tactical Covenant gear.

It's probable that David pretends to be Walter and lures Crudup down to this egg chamber, impregnating him in order to continue his sinister experiments.
