All The Fox Film Franchises Disney Now Owns
4. Kingsman
Oh, look at that: another blockbusting Fox franchise that almost certainly wouldn't work without an R-rating. Director Matthew Vaughn's Kingsman: The Secret Service, based the comic book he co-created with Mark Millar and Dave Gibbons, was a self-consciously outrageous reaction against the seriousness of the Daniel Craig-era Bond movies, which cast Colin Firth against type, proved a much bigger hit than anticipated, and made Taron Egerton a star overnight.
While most fans and critics seem to agree that recent sequel Kingsman: The Golden Circle was a bit of a let-down, the two movies to date have taken $809 million at the worldwide box office, meaning that Vaughn's plans to make it a trilogy seem very likely to come to fruition.
Misgivings about The Golden Circle notwithstanding, Kingsman has proved a pretty winning formula; surely Disney wouldn't want to mess with that.
