All The Fox Film Franchises Disney Now Owns
17. Percy Jackson
Author Rick Riordan has penned a lengthy, popular young adventure series centred on the modern-day children of the Greek Gods, but only the first two of these - Percy Jackson and the Lightning Thief, and Percy Jackson: Sea of Monsters - have made it to the screen thus far.
With original Harry Potter director Chris Columbus (why yes, he also directed the first two Home Alones) calling the shots on the first movie, hopes had clearly been high for another kid-friendly franchise hitting similar commercial heights; but with global box office of $226.4 million off a $90 million budget, 2010's Percy Jackson and the Lightning Thief really wasn't that big a hit, and its 2013 sequel Sea of Monsters fell further short commercially.
Now, with the original cast (most notably rising star Alexandra Daddario) clearly too old to reprise the roles, the only way forward for Percy Jackson would be a reboot - but is the demand really there? We have our doubts.
