All The Warner Bros. Films Coming To HBO Max In 2021
8. The Suicide Squad - August 6th
Rounding out HBO Max's summer lineup is The Suicide Squad, the reboot (sequel?) to David Ayer's Suicide Squad.
This time round, the film is written and directed by James Gunn, known recently for his Guardians of the Galaxy films for DC's eternal nemesis, Marvel.
The story features a huge ensemble cast: Margot Robbie,, Idris Elba, John Cena, Peter Capaldi, Michael Rooker, Nathan Fillion, Pete Davidson, Viola Davis; the list is as longer than most supervilllains' rap sheets.
The huge cast of characters promises to be much goofier and comical than its predecessor, taking place after the events of Ayer's Suicide Squad, but including older characters from the mythos, harkening all the way back to the 80's comic.
For a nice little freebie, HBO Max are also doing a spin off show starring John Cena's character, so if you really like Suicide Squad, August may not be a bad time to pick up a subscription.
Given the somewhat lacklustre reviews of the original film, and body of Gunn's previous work, it's hard to see this film not being better. Then again, the Suicide Squad will be available for the whole month, so maybe wait for the reviews first.
