All The Warner Bros. Films Coming To HBO Max In 2021
14. The Many Saints Of Newark - March 12th
The Sopranos, an American crime serial that ran from 1999 to 2007, is often regarded as one of the best television shows ever to grace the small screen, next to shows of the same ilk like Breaking Bad and The Wire.
Despite its somewhat questionable ending, the show still has a large and passionate fanbase, many of whom will be rejoicing at the news of a prequel coming to screens in March.
The Many Saints of Newark, written by the original creator of the show, is a prequel film to the Sopranos that will follow a younger version of the main character, Tony Soprano, as he navigates through the Newark riots and racial tensions between Italian and African American communities.
James Gandolfini, the legendary actor who portrayed Tony Soprano, tragically passed away in 2013 following a heart attack, and his son will be the one to portray the younger version of the character in the prequel film.
The director, Alan Taylor, also directed episodes of the Sopranos, and so with the showrunner, director and the main actor all having strong ties to the original franchise, The Many Saints of Newark looks set to carry on the legacy into the new decade.
