Alternate Versions Of Every MCU Movie We Almost Got To See

16. Thor Starring Tom Hiddleston...As Thor

Thor Tom Hiddleston

Though Tom Hiddleston ended up playing Loki in Thor, he originally screen-tested to play the mighty Asgardian hero himself, even growing his naturally blonde hair long, bulking up to 198 pounds and toning down to just 7% of body fat.

The supplementary material for the Thor: The Dark World Blu-ray shows footage of Hiddleston going full ham and trying his hardest to win the Marvel Studios bosses over, and though he did, it wasn't quite in the way he expected.

Would It Have Worked?: Honestly, not really. Hiddleston is such a natural villain and so inimitably brilliant as Loki, while Chris Hemsworth is such a perfect Thor that it's hard to imagine him truly pulling it off.

Hemsworth's charming demeanour, impeccable physique and, yes, dreamy face, all combine to make him a casting marvel (sorry), while with Loki, Hiddleston crafted one of the superhero genre's best ever screen baddies. Everything worked out for the best, basically.
