Alternative Oscars 2018: The Nominees & Winners For Every Category

18. Best Supporting Actress

Allison Janney I Tonya
Neon

WINNER: Allison Janney (I, Tonya)

There's no version of the Oscars where Allison Janney isn't walking away with an Oscar for her deliriously entertaining work as Tonya Harding's mother LaVona in I, Tonya, and rightly so.

The Academy left several highly-praised performance off the docket this year, though, most embarrassingly the brilliant Holly Hunter in The Big Sick, who over the summer seemed like a sure-fire nominee and even a possible winner.

Elsewhere it's shocking that The Florida Project's Bria Vinaite never picked up much awards traction, nor Ana de Armas' iconic portrayal of Joi in Blade Runner 2049, who is so crucial to the movie's emotional core.

RUNNERS-UP:

2. Holly Hunter (The Big Sick)

3. Laurie Metcalf (Lady Bird)

4. Bria Vinaite (The Florida Project)

5. Ana de Armas (Blade Runner 2049)
