The Amazing Spider-Man 2: 24 Easter Eggs, References & In-Jokes You Need To See

21. Venom?

Also included in the information that Norman passes to his son is three mentions of Venom Storage, which can only really point to one thing for Spidey-fans, even if the presence of such a unit within Oscorp makes sense in light of the revelation that Peter Parker's spiders were drained of their venom before they were destroyed. But why three Venom storage units? There's only one revealed in the film, and it's an odd name to call a secret facility that contains bigger secrets than the venom. Plus there's the mention of Synthetic Plants, which could well be another nod to the Symbiote. And then, in a more vague reference, there's a montage sequence that shows Peter's commitment to his crime fighting, which very quickly shows him returning home covered in black goo. Tongue-in-cheek, yes, but noticeable all the same.
