The Amazing Spider-Man: 9 Predictions For His Cinematic Universe
5. The Lizard Joins The Sinister Six
If there's anything immediately apparent with TASM2, it's that Dr. Curt Conners is still very much alive and held within the walls of Ravencroft Institute for the actions he carried out as the Lizard during the first film. Originally part of the Sinister Twelve, formed up by Norman Osborn himself, the Lizard has been somewhat of a wildcard in this now-established universe. His role in The Amazing Spider Man felt a little dry, not giving enough substance or definitive purpose to the character to make him engaging enough. The thematics behind his character tied in well with Spider Man (with Peter losing his uncle and Conners having already lost his arm, and both genetically enhanced), but his villainy still wasn't enough to hold any interest. So keeping him alive at the end and interring him in Ravencroft seems like a reasonable attempt at keeping Conners in the game until something. . .sinister. . .happens. Maybe that big move will be in the form of Conners' alter ego stepping into the fray of the Sinister Six when the time is necessary. Seeing as how Spider-Man's Cinematic Universe already deep-rooted several villains, and the Lizard an eventual member of the gathering of supervillains, it would make perfect sense to save him up for a return. If the Sinister Six becomes a threat at the end of TASM2, then this prediction seems very likely now that Green Goblin, Electro, Rhino, Doctor Octopus, and the Vulture are already dead giveaways. So the Lizard would equal out to be the sixth and final member to top off the hexagon of terror.
