20 Horror Movies You'll Never Get To See
12. Don't Breathe 3
Fede Álvarez's gloriously nasty horror-thriller Don't Breathe really didn't need a sequel, but of course it happened because the first grossed an astonishing $157.8 million against a mere $10 million budget.
Don't Breathe 2 was a decidedly more modest success in 2021 while receiving far more divisive reviews from critics and fans alike, many feeling that the decision to reinvent Stephen Lang's blind protagonist as an anti-hero was misguided at best, problematic at worst.
Shortly after the film's release there were talks of a Don't Breathe 3, with the second film's director Rodo Sayagues even suggesting Jane Levy could return as original protagonist Rocky.
As of 2022 the threequel was officially in development, and last year Lang continued to express optimism that it would eventually happen.
But it's tough to believe it as an outside observer.
Beyond the lesser commercial performance and polarised response to Don't Breathe 2, five years have already passed since its release, and with Lang now in his mid-seventies, the window is surely closing for him to persuasively reprise the role.
