Another 20 Underrated Movies You Have To See

Monster House is a family horror-comedy animation directed by Gil Kenan and starring the voice talents of Steve Buscemi, Maggie Gyllenhaal, Jason Lee and Jon Heder. As far as horror films go, it's perfect for kids who aren't yet ready for The Ring but have had enough of Scooby-Doo. And, much like fellow family animation Coraline, Monster House is actually quite disturbing.

After the death of their creepy neighbour, Mr Nebbercracker (Buscemi), three teens come to learn that his house is alive and is eating people. Also, it hates children. In hopes of ending the house's evil ways, the friends band together to destroy the house from the inside.

Given that it was written by Community and Rick and Morty creator Dan Harmon, you can except some sure-fire humour within this small and stylish horror, but all of that hilarity is contrasted to great success with some genuinely troubling and scary visuals, flashbacks, and characters. For family movie night, Monster House is your film.
