Ant-Man: 10 Directors Who Could Replace Edgar Wright
8. Joe Johnston
Marvel should have definitely had a long think about Joe Johnston to take over Ant-Man, not simply because he totally delivered on the tough challenge of bringing Captain America to the big screen in a way that wasn't completely obnoxious, but because Johnston's debut feature was, believe it or not, Honey, I Shrunk the Kids. There may be more talented or accomplished directors on this list, but have any of them already directed a movie about people who turn little and then turn big again? Johnston's career may be rather inconsistent, including a few duds (Jurassic Park III, The Wolfman), but his direction has always been sharp, and hell, the guy made the awesome Jumanji. How Likely Is It? Johnston is currently in the pre-production stages of Gotti: In the Shadow of My Father, which is due for release next year, though the movie has been delayed for years and years, so it's possible that it simply may not come to pass, or there may be enough downtime for Johnston to quickly get Ant-Man in the can first (not that we want the movie to be rushed). Johnston has proven himself an extremely talented director with the right script, and he's clearly super-comfortable with elaborate visual effects, even if they involve people getting shrunk. 6/10
