Ant Man & The Wasp Reviews: 10 Early Reactions You Need To See
6. Paul Rudd Gives A More Nuanced Performance
"Rudd’s performance has only gained in confidence (having a hit will do that for you)...There’s a prickly hint of ego coursing under the surface of Rudd’s presence. That’s what keeps him fresh." - Variety
"Rudd brings a sense of abashed regret to Scott's affably carefree persona as the man grapples with his mistakes while simultaneously coming to the aide of his friends." - Slant
"Rudd has been a master of this brand of Everyman deadpan for decades." - The Wrap
Paul Rudd gave a low-key yet highly entertaining performance in the first Ant-Man, with the sheer size-changing bombast of his power set effortlessly overshadowing his underrated turn as a quasi-reformed criminal trying to do the right thing by his daughter.
It seems like Rudd has a little more to sink his teeth into this time, with more time devoted to his relationship with his daughter, all while the sequel also allows Rudd to dig deeper into the man behind the suit. And of course, Rudd's more typical comedic sensibilities aren't left by the wayside either.
In light of Infinity War, an effervescent, charismatic superhero lead is exactly what MCU fans need right now.
