Avengers: 12 BEST Abandoned Endgame & Infinity War Ideas
3. Thanos' Backstory
Though they were the culmination of everything that came before them, feature more characters than just about any other movie ever, and are named after Earth’s Mightiest Heroes, it could be argued that Infinity War and Endgame’s main character was Thanos. These were the Mad Titan’s movies.
The villain that had been teased since 2012 pursued the Infinity Stones to right the wrongs of the universe, and though we saw a huge amount of character development for two movies, there was a time when we would have been showed more.
There was reportedly around 30 minutes of Thanos’ backstory ultimately left on the cutting room floor, featuring flashbacks to several points throughout his childhood. Though there was more than enough in the movies to flesh the character out to be one of the finest in comic book movie history, a look at his youth could have added another layer.
This could have been taken directly from the Thanos Rising comic arc, showing the soon to be Mad Titan as an outcast both physically, since he is the only one of his species to look like he does, and mentally, as he is far superior intellectually to everyone around him. Imagine seeing baby Thanos born, only for his mother to label him a freak and try to kill him just minutes later. It might have even been somewhat satisfying when he killed and dissected her years later.
