There are many, many characters who have been on life changing journeys throughout their time in the MCU, and are no longer who they once were when they were introduced. Tony Stark and Stephen Strange couldn't have been further from the hero type, Odin's two sons have both been on rollercoasters in the franchise since 2011, and every single Guardian of the Galaxy changed drastically since joining their new family.

Few however, changed as much as Nebula. From a secondary villain hell bent on destroying her sister and proving herself worthy to Thanos, Karen Gillan's character grew to love her sister, and came to be not only a Guardian, but an Avenger as well.

Nothing highlights this change more so than seeing 2023 Nebula fighting 2014 Nebula, however there was almost a scene pulled straight from the comics that would have reminded us of just how desperate she used to be for her father's approval.

In the concept art for Endgame, we can see Nebula wielding Tony Stark's gauntlet as Rocket watches on, and in an attempt to finally earn her father's approval, 2014 Nebula would have snapped her fingers. Unfortunately for her, since she is neither her father nor the Incredible Hulk, she would have paid the ultimate price.
