17. The Skrulls Will Appear

The Rumour

According to a rumour from MCU Cosmic, Nick Fury actually summoned Captain Marvel with his space pager because he thought the Skrulls were invading Earth after encountering them in the 90s. And even though he's wrong, the aliens COULD appear.

There's also the suggestion that Hawkeye’s time in Tokyo will be spent hunting the Yakuza, who actually turn out to be Skrulls in disguise.

It makes sense that they'd be the next big threat to be established, especially as we will see them debut in Captain Marvel, but adding another story element like that would surely just distract from the central narrative too much? As cool as it would be to see Hawkeye striking out on his own.
