The Rumour

Could there be a new Black Panther in the MCU now that T'Challa has been disappeared?

Having been asked first what it felt like to be a Disney princess (since TECHNICALLY that's what she is), Letitia Wright also fielded a question about her character inheriting Wakanda in the wake of her brother's death. Her brief response was inevitably provocative:

To be comic-book accurate, yes.

A rumour was immediately born.

It's a great idea, of course, but the problem with making Shuri a second Black Panther at this stage is the likelihood that they would have to reverse it, which would alienate fans and be horribly reductive to the character.

It's far safer for her to be a hero with her own tech and not the suit and title and then perhaps "graduate" to that role later in a Panther sequel. Where it would be a lot more fitting and would be done proper justice.
