His Avengers 4 Fate: Groot was a bit of a d*ck for most of Infinity War, his teenage period making him anti-social, rude and reclusive. But, towards the end, he proved his worth by helping Thor craft Stormbreaker, following the god of thunder to Earth and assisting the Avengers in the Battle of Wakanda.

Since it's likely Avengers 4 will be a direct sequel, Groot won't be doing much growing in-between movies, so he'll still possess that adolescent sassiness and prickly demeanour. Still, he's shown he can step up when the situation demands it, and his durability and strength will be extremely useful for whatever conflict lies ahead.

Since Groot can't technically die - and he's "died" twice now - he's not going to perish in Avengers 4. We're definitely calling an emotional reunion with Rocket at some point in the film, and a small, but pivotal (like his Infinity War role) part for him in the story.
