After the death of T'Challa in Avengers: Infinity War, Okoye was forced to step up and did a great job at filling the void left by her King. The character is now expected to play a key role in Ryan Coogler's Black Panther sequel, but is Danai Gurira going to be a permanent fixture in the Marvel Cinematic Universe?
She's not exactly a franchise player (hence why she recently left The Walking Dead), and taking one of T'Challa's greatest allies from him could lead to Black Panther realising that he needs to protect more than just Wakanda. There have been hints of that, of course, but watching one of his closest allies fall in battle against the world's next big threat could give the hero the motivation he needs.
It would be a great shame to say goodbye to Okoye this soon, but assuming Gurira isn't looking to be part of the MCU for the long haul and Marvel Studios uses this to further the story of characters like Black Panther and Shuri, it would almost certainly leave a lasting impact on fans.
