6. Hammer Drones (Iron Man 2)

The Hammer Drones appeared in Iron Man 2, created for Justin Hammer's company by Ivan Vanko. They foreshadowed Ultron's creation for a number of reason, the first simply being that they represented the first instance of unmanned robots being something that could be created in the Marvel Cinematic Universe (citing the reason that manned armours were a bad idea because "people make problem" - something Ultron himself believes).. The second reason is that, of course, they proved that armies of robots can be dangerous, as a large group of these Hammer Drones almost ended up defeating both Iron Man and War Machine before the pair came up with an idea to defeat them, in a scene that will no doubt end up representing a smaller-scale version of what will happen in the finals scenes of Avengers: Age of Ultron. The final reason is that the Hammer Drones were customised into separate models for use by various parts of the U.S. military - something that Ultron is set to do with his drones, giving them different ranks and abilities. Essentially, they were the first example in the Marvel Cinematic Universe that unmanned robotic humanoids could prove to be nefarious.
