Avengers: Age Of Ultron - 10 Heartbreaking Joss Whedon Deaths That Will Be Hard To Beat

10. Wesley Wyndam-Pryce: Angel

The final season of Angel was a brutal one. Original cast member Cordelia woke from her coma in the show's 100th episode 'You're Welcome' only to die at the end and poor Fred had her soul burned from existence. In one last final act of cruelty, another long-standing character, Wesley Wyndam-Pryce, met his maker fighting The Circle of the Black Thorn. It was a tragic end for a character that had grown from buffoon to skilled demon hunter. His path in the show had already been marred by tragedy, having his throat slit in season three and finding himself isolated from his friends for his betrayal. He finally started a relationship with his one true love Fred, only for her to die in his arms. His death was made all the more poignant by Illyira kneeling over him, transforming into Fred one last time before he died. Welsey literally died in the eyes of the woman he loved, the greater tragedy being that there was no Fred to be reunited with in the afterlife. He died a hero but never made it to the final fight.
