Avengers: Age Of Ultron - 10 Characters From The Comic Arc Who'll Be Missed

4. Doctor Strange

Who Is He? Stephen Strange was a neurosurgeon whose hands were damaged in a car accident, rendering him unable to carry on with his career. After desperately searching for ways to fix his hands - and being too proud to become a teacher - he seeks out a hermit he hears of in the Himalayas. That hermit turns out to be the Ancient One - Earth's Sorcerer Supreme. The Ancient One refuses to help as he believes Strange to be selfish, but when Strange selflessly saves him from his own evil disciple - Baron Mordo (a character who would go on to be a long-time Doctor Strange foe) - he agreed to teach him the mystic arts. Strange would go on to become Earth's Sorcerer Supreme himself and become a very important hero in the Marvel universe. Why He'll Be Missed Doctor Strange is simply a great character - he'd be missed in any story he was excluded from - but he'll be missed here because, in the altered present that Wolverine and Sue Storm return to after killing Hank Pym, Doctor Strange is part of the Defenders team that attacks them. Plus, someone with his powerful magical abilities would be very useful against Ultron in general. Thankfully, we will be getting Doctor Strange in the Marvel Cinematic Universe eventually (given that he was name-dropped in Captain America: The Winter Soldier), but the best we can hope for in Age of Ultron is a mid-credits or post-credits cameo.
