Avengers: Doomsday - Character Breakdown

6. Nightcrawler

Nightcrawler has been something of a strange entity during his on-screen career. He was one of the highlights of X2, with the White House scene in particular standing out, before being absent from The Land Stand, due to Alan Cumming not wanting to go through the make-up process all over again.

Kurt Wagner was then played by Kodi Smit-McPhee in Apocalypse and Dark Phoenix, and the character was an incredibly popular addition to the recurring roster for X-Men '97. All that to say it's been something of a mixed bag for Nightcrawler, but his return has the potential to be epic.

The character was sort of forgotten about after X2 for a while, and with the aforementioned gaps in the X-Men lore, we could be in for absolutely anything. Advances in CGI will likely make the make-up effort for Alan Cumming less arduous, and will also present the opportunity to show off Kurt's unique teleportation powers like never before.

That being said, his show-stealing scene in the White House will take some beating in this department, even if it is almost a quarter of a decade old.
