Avengers: Endgame - 10 Huge Controversies Nobody Saw Coming

9. Danai Gurira’s Poster

This one is a bit of a storm in a teacup that was over before it began.

When the official Endgame poster was released, Danai Gurira was featured, but her name was absent with no clear reason why. After a glut of complaints, it turned out there was no reason and Marvel had released the wrong poster.

A new one was tweeted out, with Gurira’s name up there and an apology from Marvel.

Even after all that’s out of the way though, some have complained about Gurira’s lack of screen time in general, especially in context of being one of Marvel’s few women of colour. While it’s true her screen time was limited, you can see the justification.

With T’Challa and Shuri snapped, Okoye likely assumed a larger role in Wakanda’s day to day running. While Black Panther saw them move away from their isolationist ideals, the snap probasaw the people put up walls again.

This may be expanded on in Black Panther 2, where she’ll surely shine. It’s also important to remember that while Gamora is green, she’s played by a woman of colour in Zoe Saldana, and gets a lot of the spotlight.
