Avengers: Endgame - 10 Huge Controversies Nobody Saw Coming
8. Huge Spoilers
Spoilers these days are seemingly impossible to avoid.
A couple of weeks before release, 4Chan and other Internet forums unleashed a tidal wave of leaks, most of them pertaining to the movie’s third act. Though some didn’t come true (Wolverine) and others seemed too good to be true (Cap wielding Mjolnir), spoilers can take a lot of suspense out of a movie.
Most Marvel pages banned spoilers entirely, meaning unless you went looking for them, you probably didn’t see them.
The bigger issue is that despite the famous #DontSpoilTheEndgame campaign, several insiders dropped pretty big spoilers themselves. A few months before the movie released, Gwyneth Paltrow uploaded a picture of herself which seemed to reveal Rescue, but she’s not the only star involved.
Chris Pratt shared an on set video of the whole cast getting ready for the final showdown inside the two week spoiler ban, so anyone who saw that knew the snapped heroes would be joining the Avengers.
Marvel themselves gave away some spoilers too though. Ironically, while using #DontSpoilTheEndgame, they tweeted out a short trailer after opening weekend ruining lots of surprises. Rescue was there again, as was Professor Hulk and the return to the Battle Of New York.
