Avengers: Endgame - 10 Huge Controversies Nobody Saw Coming

Black Widow has shown remarkable development, fully buying into the idea of the Avengers family by the time Endgame rolls around. She was raised to be sterile, ruthless and devoid of emotions, but as the MCU has progressed, she’s let her guard down, opened up and is running the show with confidence and gusto post-snap.

Her death is tragic but selfless; the perfect culmination of her arc. While the movie does a decent job of implying Hawkeye will be the one to make the sacrifice play, it’s fitting that it’s Nat in the end who perishes.

She’s one of the OG Avengers, but seeing as Captain America and Iron Man are bigger stars (with three solo movies each to Black Widow’s zero), her death was overshadowed by their departure.

She does at least have a prequel coming up to give her a final swansong.

It’s not just this overshadowing though which has led to some arguing the movie failed her. Claiming her death was used to motivate the men is tenuous though; Hawkeye was already motivated by his family and she makes the sacrifice willingly to finally wipe out the red in her ledger she’s talked about for years.
