7. Why Are Hawkeye & Black Widow In Japan?

One of the most intriguing and ambiguous visuals in the trailer saw Black Widow (Scarlett Johansson) meeting up with Hawkeye (Jeremy Renner), who has clearly adopted his Ronin persona and is out kicking a** with a sword in Japan.

If you look closely you can also see Hiroyuki Sanada's currently unnamed character lying on the floor, and if rumours are true, he'll be playing a Yakuza boss who somehow crosses paths with Clint Barton.

Perhaps the most likely answer here is that Natasha heads to Japan in order to track Clint down, who in the wake of the Decimation and the probable loss of his family (bad odds there, Clint), has become a cold-blooded assassin and a far cry from his peppier Hawkeye persona.

It'll require Natasha to pull him back from the brink by informing him that there's a plan afoot to rescue his family. Needless to say, it's reasonable to expect a far more humourless, stoic Clint than we've seen in the MCU to date.
