9. The Celestials Are Involved

The Leak

A few supposed leakers have mentioned various possible appearances by the Celestials in Endgame. According to this leak, the film will begin with Doctor Strange meeting the Living Tribunal, who is leading an attempt to bring Thanos to justice for his interference with the balance of the universe.

The same leak suggests that Thanos won't be killed, but will - at the end of the Saga (in the post-credits, in actual fact) - be brought before the Celestials' judgement to answer for his crimes.

Response

Considering how fundamentally Thanos changed the universe, it would make sense that it would take something as powerful as the Celestials to do much about him, assuming the Avengers will prove not to be powerful enough to kill him. There's also been some rumours that Benedict Cumberbatch was seen filming a major CGI sequence, which seems to be the source of the opening Living Tribunal "leak."

Given the fact that we're getting an Eternals movie in the future of the MCU, seeing the Celestials - who are key to their story - actually also makes sense. That way they're not just dropped into existence out of nowhere.
