Avengers: Endgame - 6 Big Ways The Trailer Could Be Lying To You

2. Steve And Natasha Might Be Looking At A Different Message

The trailer concludes with Steve and Natasha receiving a message, with the camera cutting between them, and a few CCTV shots of Scott Lang. The way this is done leads us to believe that Scott is that message, but what if he isn't?

For one thing, we never see Steve, Nat and Scott in the same shot (for example, a shot looking over Nat's shoulders, from behind, with the message in view) which, conveniently, means that Marvel doesn't have to show what the former two characters are reacting to. And overall, the way the scene is structured is suspicious: Steve's line ("is this an old message?") is said in full view of the camera, but just as we pan to Nat so she can say hers... the trailer cuts back to Scott.

This means that her line ("it's the front door") could have easily been dubbed in, and that might not be what she says in the movie at all. In addition, Scott's message appears on the same kind of easy-to-manipulate hologram we discussed in the Shuri entry, so the visual should have been simple for Marvel to change if needed.

We're also led to believe that this whole exchange takes place at Avengers HQ (mainly because of the establishing shot of the building's exterior, and the hangar shot). The only problem with that idea, is that Scott is surrounded by leaves...

...but in the overhead shot of the facility, the trees are full, bright green, and there are no leaves on the ground whatsoever. So how could this be live footage?

So if Steve is receiving a different message, what could it be? It doesn't necessarily have to be a visual message, so is it Tony's goodbye to Pepper? Something from Captain Marvel, or maybe Shuri? Could it be Clint, and this is what propels Nat to go and find him?

The possibilities are many, but frustratingly, we probably won't know what's going on until the movie comes out.
