Avengers: Infinity War - 10 Possibilities For The Secret New Character

1. Red Skull

Look, this is obviously a cheat, but there's no reason why "new" can't mean revived - as long as there's someone new underneath the make-up in place of Hugo Weaving, who is less than keen about returning.

Red Skull was never actually killed off at the end of Captain: The First Avenger, as he was merely teleported away somewhere by the Tesseract, leaving the door firmly open for an expected return. So far, that hasn't happened, but it would be a hell of a way to escalate the threat in Infinity War when Thanos gets his hands on some of the Stones and learns to master them.

The head of HYDRA would be the kind of A-list villain who would boost Thanos' forces in an authentic way, rather than the introduction of someone more disposable who the audience would expect to be killed off. And if he survived (after perhaps symbolically killing Captain America), we'd have a pretty damn good plot for future Cap legacy films starring Bucky or Sam Wilson as the replacement Cap (while also searching for Rogers, who obviously wouldn't be fully dead).

Crowd-pleasing? You bet your ass.
